Gaming Platform Games24x7 Appoints Saroj Panigrahi as COO, Driving Growth in the Rapidly Expanding Online Gaming Sector

Games24x7 Welcomes Saroj Panigrahi as New Chief Operating Officer (COO) to Drive Growth and Innovation in the Gaming Platform. The parent company of RummyCircle and My11Circle has elevated Panigrahi to the C-suite from his previous position as Vice President. With a 15-year tenure at Games24x7, Panigrahi brings a wealth of experience and expertise to his new role.

During his time at Games24x7, Panigrahi has made significant contributions to the company’s growth. Notably, he played a crucial role in the development of My11Circle, the platform’s fantasy sports app. Having joined Games24x7 in 2007 as a lead engineer, Panigrahi’s dedication and hard work have propelled him to this senior leadership position.

Expressing his enthusiasm for the gaming industry, Panigrahi said, “There couldn’t be a better time to be in the rapidly growing sunrise sector of online gaming. My goal is to drive forward the next phase of growth for our businesses at Games24x7.” With his deep understanding of the industry and proven leadership capabilities, Panigrahi is poised to lead Games24x7 towards new heights.

Trivikraman Thampy, Co-founder and Co-CEO of Games24x7, expressed his confidence in Panigrahi’s abilities, stating, “Saroj has been an invaluable team member over the years, and has consistently demonstrated exceptional leadership, strategic acumen, and a deep understanding of the user.” This endorsement highlights Panigrahi’s contributions to the company’s success and his potential to shape its future.

Panigrahi’s appointment as COO comes at a significant juncture for the online gaming industry in India. The Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY) has proposed the establishment of self-regulatory organizations (SROs) to regulate the sector. These SROs, comprising industry representatives, educationists, and experts in fields such as child psychology, will assess the permissibility of online games, particularly those involving wagering.

In April, Games24x7, along with Dream Sports, Mobile Premier League (MPL), and Zupee, distanced themselves from the Internet and Mobile Association of India’s (IAMAI) statement on the draft gaming rules. This move showcased the gaming companies’ commitment to ensuring regulations that strike a balance between industry growth and responsible gaming practices.

As Panigrahi takes on the role of COO, his extensive experience and insights will be instrumental in navigating the regulatory landscape and driving Games24x7’s continued success. With his leadership and the collective efforts of the company, Games24x7 is poised to thrive in the evolving Indian online gaming market.
