Disney Plus Reveals ‘Star Wars: Visions’ Release Date and First Look

Disney Plus has already revealed a very first look at its new anime adaptation anthology series called, “Star Wars: Visions,” coming soon to the platform as well on Sept.22.

On Saturday, Disney Plus also announced the seven Japanese anime studios that are behind the production of the short films in the series: Science Saru, Trigger, Studio Colorido (Twin Engine), Geno Studio (Twin Engine), Kamikaze Douga, Kinema Citrus, and Production IG.

The studios mentioned above will employ their own style of animation and storytelling signature to deliver their own visions of the “Star Wars” Universe. We’ve listed the names of all nine episodes related to it and their corresponding studios which produced them:

Science Saru – “Akakiri” and “TO-B1”

Trigger – “The Twins” and “The Elder”

Studio Colorido (Twin Engine) – “Tatooine Rhapsody”

Gene Studio (Twin Engine) – “Lop and Ocho”

Kamikaze Douga – “The Duel”

Kinema Citrus – “The Village Bride”

Production IG – “The Ninth Jedi”

Disney Plus said in a statement released in a press on Saturday, ”As a very first formal venture into anime world, each ‘Star Wars: Visions’ short bears a unique form of Japanese sensibility, which in many ways to aligns with the tone and spirit of Star Wars storytelling. From the very beginning stories told in the Star Wars galaxy have (counted) Japanese Mythology and the Movies of Akira Kurosawa among their many impacts, and these new visions will further explore that cultural heritage through the (different) unique animation style and (perspective) of each anime studio.”
